Commissions!

2 min read
Heeeeey everybody! Apparently I haven't updated my journal in two years. How exciting. A lot has changed.

I am currently living on my own, and I am burning through my bank account much quicker than I would like. I feel kind of bad paying for the things I NEED; I get really guilty over the non-essentials like going to dinner with my friends or buying new clothes.

Thus, I would like to put forth that I am open to commissions for art and plushies! Different factors would influence the costs, but these are rough ideas.

Two people
Bad Little Boy by Frotu The Last Dance by Frotu Lessons by Frotu
~$30

One person
Miss Sato by Frotu Camellia by Frotu Leah of Hel by Frotu
~$20

Chibis/backgrounds
Loki and Frieeeeeends by Frotu I Can Has Cheezburger? by Frotu II. Summer by Frotu
~$10

Plushies

~$25 each (partly to cover supply costs as well; does not include shipping)

Just message me if interested. Thanks!

I'm not quite sure where the last year went. Maybe where the lost socks from the laundry go?

Regardless, a ton of stuff has been going on. It's kind of one of those things where I've been so busy that I almost haven't noticed all that's happened, if that makes any sense. Anyway, I feel like providing a quick rundown of what has gone on this last year.

1) Last August, I got to go to Vancouver to meet Misha Collins. Yes, that's worth mention, because I mildly worship the brilliance of that man.

2) The beginning of October, I had an interview at my 1st choice medical school. At the end of October (the day before my b-day, in fact) I found out that I was accepted and would thus have the opportunity to become a doctor like I had dreamed of and worked toward for like... 18 years.

3) My family's 12 year old dog, who was the first pet I really had growing up, passed away on Thanksgiving. ...On Thanksgiving.

4) In December, my family couldn't take being pet-less anymore, and we adopted a little siamese mix kitten we named Willow. She is epic awesomeness: she plays fetch with crumpled paper balls, likes playing peek-a-boo, always runs up and sits outside my bedroom after my alarm goes off in the morning, will sleep on anybody's lap like a baby (like... literally like a baby, in the crook of your arm and everything). She definitely made our house feel like a home again.

5) Took Advanced Fiction Writing in the spring, and during the second half when we broke up into little groups to workshop, I was told that I had some of the best writing in the class. It really renewed my love of writing.

6) I graduated with Distinguished Honors and Magna Cum Laude with my bachelor's degree in Psychology. Like a boss. B)

7) Got to go to A-kon again and spent two weeks with my friend watching the nerdy gamut from the original Star Trek series to Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood to My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. AND IT WAS AWESOME.

8) In two weeks, I get to move across the country and set up for med school orientation, which starts August 2nd. That is why I am turning out pictures like a crazy person lately.

Aaaaaand... I guess that's kind of a patchwork view of my life at the moment! I hope everybody else is having an enjoyable summer! :)

So, I guess it's time to post an update since I haven't done so in... exactly a year. I kind of thought of doing one last month but when you're that close to the year mark, it's more fun to hold out. Or maybe that's just me.

Anyway, hopefully nobody is going "Oh Frotu, where have you been?". Because I did post a few pictures to try to make it all obvious that I'm outside of the country. XD So yeah, I'm about half way done with my semester in Japan. I absolutely love this country, although it is severely lacking in peanut butter and proper cheese. I seriously wish I could just get a brick of cheddar and nom on it for a while. Other than that - and the fact that I got rather sick for about two and a half weeks and now am all "GAAAAH!" and failsy in my Japanese grammar course - things are spiftacular. But I am so incredibly busy with all sorts of random unanticipated stuff that I haven't been near as good about replying to comments as I like. And for that I'm sorry guys!

In other news, I took the MCAT back at the end of March and got my results: 31S. Which is within the comfort zone my adviser mentioned for me considering what my GPA is. So hurray! No more MCAT stress ever again. Now I just have "Applying to Medical Schools" stress, which is more stressful than anticipated, interestingly enough. Studying abroad throws in some wrenches there! But yeah, all systems go more or less, so I'm pleased about that.

On a more unfortunate note, I am completely and utterly devoid of any ability to make art. I was nursing along my really old, 32-bit computer so that I could use Photoshop on it, but I couldn't take two computers with me here. That'd just be ridiculous. So now I have my 64-bit Vista running, which will not properly run Photoshop, and the SAI download I got was apparently just a trial. So yeah. I have a nice new tablet with twice the pressure sensitivity and bigger dimensions, and nothing to use it with. Quite awesome. I'd try downloading something else, but I'm learning the joys of sharing an internet connection with 100 other people. I'm sure some people know how that goes.

Anyway, I know most people in the uh... Western Hemisphere are getting done with school and such around this time. I hope you guys all have awesome things set up for the summer. ^^

Staying up late is great! You start thinking that journal titles like that are really spiffy, which I'm sure will not be the case when I look at it in the morning.

Anyway, school is done. I am full of a happiness that I cannot even describe, because that year was really horrid. It seemed pretty bad while I was doing it, but looking back it was a nasty one from both an educational and personal perspective. Which would, of course, do a lot to explain why I had that whole maybe-aneurysm scare earlier. Fun beans. But it seems like it's all settling down and behaving itself now and life is once again jolly. I get to go to A-kon again this year, so that will undoubtedly be full of lulz.

So now that I have time again (holy crap!), I fully plan to start getting all sorts of art done. Although, in my defense, I've spent the last couple weeks working on completing enough pictures to make a video out of them. If anybody is interested, it is at www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgXCxT… (and I would suggest watching it in HQ). It's part of a collab with ff.net's Enchantable -- her part can be found at www.fanfiction.net/s/5080365/1…. If you like Ulquihime stuff, I would definitely recommend looking at her other fics. They are uber enjoyable. :D

Well I hope things are going well for everybody else. I feel like I haven't really been around that much for the last... month. >_>

Haha, this whole school year has been so dramatic.  It's reached the point where I've ran out of angst and just find everything kind of... humorous.  Does anybody else do that?

Anyway, no rants or vents this time.  Spring semester is always calmer, somehow.  Probably cause I stop caring as much. XD

However, I do have to make a 50 word summary/description of the story I will write for fiction, and my brain is made of porridge.  Mostly cause the story can not be longer than 12 double-spaced pages.  *deeeath*... wtf.  I'm all about subtle movements and character growth and blah blah, which will be impossible in 6 pages.  I wanted to do some sort of anthropomorphic thing, but I doubt that I'd be able to get away with it in that short of a space.  Boo.  Major brain farts.

So, I'm curious about commissions.  I know it's sooort of been brought up, but never really formally, so I would like as much feedback from everybody as I can get on this matter.  Would anybody be interested (regardless of if you'd actually do it)? If you were thinking about getting one, what sort of thing would you want (sketches, fully colored pictures, etc)?  What sort of prices would you consider paying?  I'm just looking for some general ideas, so don't think I'll pounce on you or anything. *laughs*

Ah, Wednesday.  You will bring me Bleach spoilers *pretty sure that it's one of the things that makes facing Tuesdays bearable*.
